Despite the genealogy - no Francis Buck

Ok let's recap why I say Francis Buck of Hucknall Torkard is most likely NOT the father of Charles Buck, our mysterious ancestor.

1.  Francis' wife Theodosia died in 1752.  Charles Buck was born in 1753.  (See the Hucknall Torkard burials in a previous post, showing Charles burial Jan 23, 1820 at age 67.  1820-67 = 1753)
2.  Could Theodosia have given birth to Charles in 1752 & there is some confusion about his birthdate?  Yes.  This is possible.  However, there is no record of a Charles Buck birth/christening in the Hucknall Torkard parish registry in the applicable date range.  Francis' three known sons, William, Thomas & Oliver were duly christened at the parish church & these events recorded in the register.
3.  Francis Buck remarried in 1755.  Does this mean he did not have a son in 1753, named Charles Buck?  No, but see point #2.  No record of Charles being born in H.T. Notts. in 1753.
4.  Francis Buck created a will in 1774 before his death in 1775.  The will ( which I will post, once I figure out how to post PDF's in blogger) does not mention a son named Charles.  It lists his three sons, William, Thomas & Oliver.
5.  Charles Buck married Hannah Newbut Feb 19, 1775.  Francis Buck died Feb 22, 1775.  (see photo below) Would Charles have married within days of his "father" dying?  Hard to say.  If Francis wasn't Charles' father, what difference would it have made?
6.  In Francis' will, he leaves framework knitting equipment & apprentices to his son William Buck.  Francis had enough goods to justify the making of will at his death.  William Buck later acquires property in Hucknall Torkard.  Joseph Buck Sr (son of Charles Buck) & Joseph Jr were both quite poor.   -- much more on this to come.
7.  Dad's DNA test (to be published when I figure out the PDF's...) shows several connections to Starbucks.  No Bucks!  More on this to come also.
---
To recap: Why would Francis Buck have a son that was born between his 2nd & 3rd marriages, fail to have this son christened, and leave this son out of his will?  Why does the absence of information mean that Francis Buck had a son name Charles Buck?  Absolutely nothing links Francis Buck of Hucknall Torkard to Charles Buck of Hucknall Torkard besides their surname.

It seems to me that an error was made when the Buck family went to England in the 1940's to research their genealogy.  I cannot see how they made the connection.  Unless they assumed that Francis Buck must be Charles Buck father simply by looking for "Buck" in the Hucknall Torkard parish register.

So that is where the matter stands for now....

Intel on Francis Buck - our alleged ancestor

Let's recap what we know about Francis Buck:
1.  He was married to Anne Buck & had a son John in 1732 (Hucknall).
2.  Anne Buck died in 1732 in Hucknall.
3.  Francis Buck had three sons with Theodosia Farnworth aka Seddon.  These were William (born 1739), Thomas (born 1743) and Oliver (born 1747).  (All Hucknall parish.)
4.  Theodosia Buck died 1752 in Hucknall.
5.  Francis remarried Hannah Molt, of Cossall parish, in 1755.
6.  Francis made a last will & testament in 1774, wherein he references (among various people) his wife Hannah & his three sons, William, Thomas & Oliver.

Who was the first Charles Buck?

Charles Buck of Hucknall Torkard - who was his father? I still don't know, after doing a certain amount of research & reading. We know he was born about 1753 (see burial information below), married a woman named Hannah Newbut in 1775 and his great-grandson emigrated to Utah in 1865.
Putting that question aside for now, let's talk about Charles Starbuck, born 1724 and died 1784 in Greasley parish. He died a pauper (see attached). We know that a Charles Starbuck married Martha Onion in 1745 at Greasley. It seems reasonable to me that a man born in 1724 would have married at age 21, and that these Charles' are the same person.
Charles & Martha had two sons, John (born 1748) & Charles (born 1753). If they had more children together, I don't know. (see familysearch.org - GS Film #503497)

Not related to Francis Buck?

I found a link to the Hucknall Torkard parish records, which is a transcription of the handwritten registers, which can be viewed on film at the LDS Family History Library. I made an Excel file, with all of the Buck names in the register. The register begins in 1728 and ends in 1851.
The first four Buck surname entries are for the baptism of children of Francis Buck. The first is a son named John, born to Francis & Anne in 1732. The next three sons of Francis Buck to be... baptized, William, Thomas & Oliver, are with his wife Theodosia. (William 1739, Thomas 1743 & Oliver 1747).
Other entries in the register show burials for Anne Buck in 1732, and Theodosia Buck in 1752.
You will note what does not happen in the Hucknall Torkard parish records. Charles Buck is not listed as a son of Francis Buck. In fact, Francis Buck's wife, Theodosia, dies in 1752, before Charles Buck can be born.
Consider that for a while.....

The Buck mysteries shall resume....

The Buck mysteries shall resume....
One day last summer, I looked at my genealogy sheets that Angela had put together in the mid-1990's. I wondered who were these Buck people anyway, and where did they come from? And I noticed what could be a discrepancy. A Francis Buck, born 1704 in Wollaton, Notts, was said to be the father of both Charles Buck (born 1753) and Thomas Buck (born 1743).
Not a problem, yet. Charles Buck (1753) married Hannah Newbut in 1775, and is our dire...ct ancestor through the Joseph & Charles Buck's of Hucknall & Utah. Thomas Buck married an Ann Trueman & the genealogy chart says their daughter Mary Buck married a George Bonnington, an ancestor of Hannah Chauntry (the wife of the Utah pioneer Charles Buck).
Over the next few posts, I shall attempt to explain what I discovered (and failed to discover) when I tried to verify the attached family group sheets, specifically the parentage of one Charles Buck of Hucknall Torkard, born in 1753.
(see attached group sheets with my handwriting - which I will attach someday when I figure it out.)
